As social media continues to become overly saturated with content from brands and people, we will continue to see a rise in private groups such as Social Media Masterminds on Facebook and other exclusive, members-only communities similar to forums in the ’90s and early 2000s. Unless your day-to-day job involves social media, the average consumer is passively using it to get news updates and engage with their friends which is why your brand should consider creating a private group or community for your most engaged “super fans.” By creating a private group, you can now tap into a smaller yet highly engaged community of fans which creates a sense of value to them. I clicked on a number of products to see where it took me. It does appear that the products are connected to Amazon but one would never know it since the product that shows is not the same as the listing on Amazon.. I have started a site using Amazon Affiliate products and when a visitor clicks on a product on my site it takes them to the product listing on Amazon which looks totally differenet than the Gear Patrol listings.

An additional note that must be made at this phase is: do keep in mind the LTV or the life-time value of your customer here. In certain scenarios (e.g.: subscription-oriented affiliate programs) it makes sense paying significantly higher commissions on the customer’s initial payment to the company when the latter knows that they will make much more (from the same customer) on future payments. 5. Define communications strategy. In the social media era, a continuous communications strategy is necessary to engage your audience through the many channels available.
